Acheh Beach is a small fishing community on the west cost of Penang Island. It is located at the end of Jalan Pantai Acheh which links to the round-island main road.

Air Itam Dam has been said to be the first dam to be built on Penang island and the first major engineering project by George Town's City Council. At 700 feet above sea level, the water catchment area is around the corner from Penang Hill. Building or construction of the dam was between 1958 and 1962 and the then Governor of Penang, Raja Tun Uda Al-Haj bin Raja Muhamad officially opened the dam on 8 Dec 1962. Today, it's a favourite spot for joggers and also for picnics. There's a great panoramic view of George Town from its peak. This dam is one of three dams on Penang island, the other two being Teluk Bahang Dam and Mengkuang Dam.

Set in an acre of hillside of what is his family’s durian orchard, Fuan Wong has crafted, over the last six years, a space to indulge his two greatest passions, art and horticulture. 2km from the district office along Jalan Sungai Pinang is the Thendayabani Muthumariamman Hindu Temple. The oldest temple built by the Chettiar Indians of Balik Pulau. Dedicated to Lord Subramaniam and to Mariamman, a female deity, the temple's biggest feast is Vaigasi celebrated over three days in May.

Pantai Mas is formally a coconut plantation, and now an overgrown wasteland. Accessing Pantai Mas with fishing boats is only available during high tides. Alternative access is through the trails from United Hokkien Cemetery or the longer ridge trail starting from Teluk Bahang. The easier walking trail will be from Pantai Acheh village which will take about 45 minutes.

Built since 1985, Mengkuang Dam is the biggest dam in Penang, located in Seberang Perai. The Mengkuang Dam is 10 times the size of the Air Itam Dam, with a capacity of 23.5 million cubic meters.

In the village of Titi Teras you will see a walled Muslim cemetery filled with pointed granite tombstones and a carved wooden funeral hearse which is used to transport the diseased from the home to the cemetery. Further on is the Masjid An-Nur, a recently renovated mosque used for daily prayers and occasions such as marriages and funerals. In November, to commemorate the Holy Pilgrimage 'Hari Raya Haji', one can witness the sacrifice of goats and cows at the mosque compound.

Representing the best south west coast beach on Penang island is Pasir Panjang Beach in Balik Pulau. Pasir Panjang beach has a steeper gradient when compared to other Penang beaches but this does not inhibit its effectiveness for providing a fun location to visit.
